Celebrating Seniors Week - Bega Valley
March 28, 2008
A range of activities has been organised across the Bega Valley Shire to celebrate NSW Seniors Week from April 6 to 13.
Seniors Week celebrates the valuable contribution seniors make to the community and is a way of saying thank you to seniors and that contribution.
This year also marks 50 years of Seniors Week celebrations.
The theme for 2008 is Live Life which aims to encourage seniors to participate in at least one of the activities across the Shire.
The centrepiece of the week’s celebrations will be the Golden Gig and presentation of the Senior Citizen of the Year Award by the Mayor, Cr Tony Allen, at a luncheon and concert in the Merimbula RSL Club on Wednesday, April 9. This event is booked out.
