Information needed for the “Chronicle of Far South Eastern NSW”
6 June 2008
Andrew Constance Member for Bega and Mrs Ruth Gowing of the Bega Historical Society have joined forces calling for community assistance in developing a ‘Chronicle of Far South Eastern NSW’.

Mrs Ruth Gowing and Andrew Constance, Member for Bega, work together on the “Chronicle of Far South Eastern NSW.”
“This is a wonderful initiative designed to capture our region’s history,” Mr Constance said.
“Mrs Gowing is inviting members of the community with suitable skills to join the chronicle committee, which will prepare the ‘Chronicle of Far South Eastern NSW’,” Mr Constance said.
“I met recently with Mrs Gowing from the Bega Historical Society who is coordinating this project locally and we need people to come forward with relevant historical information that can form part of the chronicle,” he said.
“This might come in the form of diaries that accurately date events, old accounts, any accurate record of events or identifiable photographs that can then be recorded as part of the chronicle,” Mr Constance said.
“Should you be cleaning out the farm shed and come across an old box stacked with old records, accounts or photographs from years past then Mrs Gowing is interested as this is the type of information that will help form the chronicle.”
“As well as information, Mrs Gowing also needs assistance from people who might have an interest recording history or perhaps a background in genealogy and can volunteer some time towards this incredibly valuable project,” he said.
Any one interested can contact Andrew Constance office on 64922056 or Mrs Gowing at the Bega Pioneer Museum on 64 921453 which is also open Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s 10am till 4pm.
