Member for Eden-Monaro Mike Kelly said he looked forward to being represented locally on the Southwest Slopes.

The office at 55 Wynyard Street is believed to be the first ever Australian Government electorate office in Tumut. It will be open during normal business hours twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

There are Eden-Monaro Electorate Offices also in Queanbeyan and Moruya. The Queanbeyan office has been operating since the poll was declared on December 13 last year. It operates a 1300 telephone service (1300 659 730 that provides access to electorate staff for the price of a local call and includes an after-hours message service.

The Moruya office opened yesterday (Thursday February 28) and will also be open two days a week.

Because of its 38,000 square kilometre size, Mr Kelly felt it was essential to have a third office in Tumut.

“The issues on the Southwest Slopes are often different from other areas in the electorate,” Mr Kelly said. “The people of the region have previously been taken for granted with their problems neglected for too long.”

Mr Kelly will pay for the Tumut office establishment out of his electorate allowance.
