Bega Valley Shire Council now subscribes to Library Elf for library borrowers.
Library Elf is an online service through which borrowers can sign up for email or RSS date due reminders, hold notices and overdue reminders.
Borrowers can select which of these services they want and how frequently they should be notified.
Parents can add their children's cards to their subscription to keep a track of the whole family’s loans.
Information and liaison services librarian, Megan Jordan-Jones, said University of Wollongong students would be able to minimise their overdue fines with this service.
“You will find the link, called ‘loan e-reminders’ on the library’s online catalogue on the search and member services screens,” she said.
“The link will take you directly to the Library Elf site where borrowers register for the service.
“Alternatively, library users can also go directly to the advertising-free site www.libraryelf.org to sign up or access their account.
“Book marks explaining the benefits of the service and how to use it will arrive shortly at the library,” Ms Jordan Jones said.
The library’s online catalogue can found at http://www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au/Community/Library_Services/Library.htm
