Nominations Sought for Gallery Committee

Council is seeking expressions of interest from people with broad community connections and influence with an active interest in the arts to serve on the Bega Valley Regional Gallery’s Advisory Committee.

Committee chair Gordon Beattie said people with broad professional skills were needed to assist the committee further its particular needs.

“The next two years will be a crucial time for the Bega Valley Regional Gallery with a number of issues requiring significant consideration,” Mr Beattie said.

“These include a possible relocation to a new purpose-built facility, participation in the development of a public art policy and contribution to the review of the cultural plan for the Shire.

“Members of the committee will also be expected to promote public awareness and appreciation of the gallery as one of the most important community assets in the region, as it is the only regional gallery in south eastern NSW.

“With the possibility of a new gallery, a critical role for the committee will be the development and implementation of a sponsorship program and fundraising activities,” he said.

The purpose of the BVRG Advisory Committee, as a Section 355 committee of Council, is primarily to advance the Gallery’s status and development in the region. It is not a management committee but an advisory committee of Council on the operational requirements of the Gallery.
