Bega Valley Shire council has engaged the demographers, id consulting, to provide and maintain an online economic profile of the Bega Valley Shire using their id.economy® software.
Council’s general manager, Peter Tegart, said the profile was based on a combination of Census, National Accounts, REMPLAN, Journey to Work, ABS Business Register and other sources.
“It profiles the economic role and function of the shire, how its economy compares to other areas and how it is changing over time,” he said.
“The profile will provide us with the evidence base to plan housing policy and service delivery; attract investment and promote our region; support funding submissions and compete for resources; advocate for the community and work collaboratively.
“It will also be invaluable to individuals or companies looking to invest in the Bega Valley Shire, and to the people who are advising them such as real estate agents, financial advisors, business brokers, chambers of commerce and the like,” Mr Tegart said.
“This profile will enable users to accurately describe the nature of the local economy, provide the information base to develop economic strategies and provide resources to develop promotional material.”
The economic profile can be accessed through a link on the Council website, www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au – click on “about the shire” at the top of the home page and then on “economic snapshot” in the left hand panel.
