Tebutt Must Respond Following Meeting With Pambula Hospital Action Group

The Member for Bega Andrew Constance is pressuring the NSW Minister for Health Carmel Tebutt to respond to the concerns raised by the Pambula Hospital Action Group following the meeting she held with them two weeks ago.

"The Minister has had ample time to reflect on the submission made to her by the action group. She now must respond," Mr Constance said.

"I have moved a notice of motion in the parliament calling for the return of services, as well as putting questions to the Minister about the state of the hospital," he said.

“The community was promised paediatrics, cardiac monitoring opthalomology, endoscopy, improved mental health services and greater use of the theatre including more general and orthopaedic services back in February,” Mr Constance said.

“The new Health Minister must be accountable ,” he said.

“Labor has had five health ministers since 2007 including Reba Meagher, John Hatzistergos twice, John Della Bosca, and now Carmel Tebutt,” Mr Constance said.

“Is it any wonder Pambula is in the mess that it is when you have no stability at the top of health in NSW?” Mr Constance asked.

“Carmel Tebutt has an obligation to respond following the meeting with the Pambula Hospital Action Group and must be honest about what Labor have promised and achieved,” Mr Constance said.

“The maternity situation is farcical in the region and is costing a bomb in locums to run the service,” Mr Constance said.

“Rural health in NSW is a basket case due to Labor’s unruly Greater Southern Area Health Service,” Mr Constance said.

“Its time the area health service was scrapped and we go back to district boards,” Mr Constance said.
