Internationally acclaimed musician and arts aficionado Phil Moriarty will be a guest judge for the Bega Valley Regional Gallery’s final show for the year, ‘Out of the Box III’.

Phil, who recently returned from the Edinburgh Festival, will join gallery staff Megan Bottari and Rachel Burns for the weighty task of selecting the winner in this popular exhibition which encourages broad community participation and loads of creative ingenuity.

Gallery curator Megan Bottari sdays the artist must make a work that arrives at the gallery in a small AusPost gift pack – measuring a mere 165mm x 137mm x 114 mm.

“Of course, the work itself can potentially ‘fold out’ into almost anything so it is very exciting at our end,” she said.

“We receive a steady flow of mystery parcels - with an amazing surprise in each. The creative constraint throws up a challenge that triggers a quite incredible range of responses.”

The winning work (which will take out a prize of $1,000) will be announced at the exhibition opening on Friday, November 27, at 6pm.

“Out of the Box III’ is a selling show, so presents a great opportunity to buy a locally hand-crafted objet d’art for that very special Christmas gift,” Ms Bottari said.
