Exceptional Circumstance Support Bungling

Liberal MP Andrew Constance has accused the regions Federal Member of Parliament of playing politics with the livelihoods of local farmers, who have been crying out for exceptional circumstance support since it was halted 12 months ago.

 

“For the  Federal Member for Eden-Monaro, Mike Kelly to say the application for exception circumstances is taking time so as to remove any possible claims of "pork-barrelling" for his marginal seat is clear proof that he and the Labor Party are playing politics with the livelihoods of local farmers,” Mr Constance said.

Bega Valley Shire Council’s popular free annual Hazardous Waste Collection will be held during August.

 

The service allows residents to dispose of many items including pesticides, fungicides, batteries, oxidisers, weed killers, paints and varnishes, household cleaners, fuel, oils, sharps (syringes), poisons, solvents, acids and alkalis, pool chemicals, gas cylinders, medicines, fertilisers, smoke detectors, fluorescent globes and compact fluorescent lights. Pupils Turn Filmmakers

Primary pupils from Sapphire Coast Learning Community schools across the Bega Valley Shire will take on the roles of producers, directors and camera crew for a project with a difference during this school term.

The pupils have taken on the task of creating a video record of the 29 projects being undertaken in the Shire with funds from the Federal Government’s Rural Local Community Infrastructure Program.
