NSW government announces major investment in east coast climate research.

The NSW Government will invest $750,000 into research to look at changing weather patterns along the east coast and how they may affect the population and infrastructure along the NSW and South-East Queensland coastline.

Police take to the air to target road safety – Operation Safe Arrival 2009

With the Christmas season upon us NSW Police have today unveiled two new initiatives to help combat the growing road toll and make sure everyone makes it home safely.

Police are advising motorists in southern NSW they’ll be out in force this holiday season to prevent the region’s road toll climbing further.

Targeted farm safety awareness campaigns have helped reduce the average number of fatalities on Australian properties from 150 to an average of just below 100 in the past 10 years.

The Australian Bankers’ Association (ABA) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) expect that the strength of the Australian dollar will this year prompt more online Christmas shopping with merchants located overseas and are encouraging consumers to protect themselves when making any online purchases.

Sea Shepherd Renames the Earthrace Vessel in Honor of Benefactor Ady GilLos

At a fundraising event in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17th, 2009, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society unveiled their newest ocean defense vessel: the Ady Gil. The vessel, previously known as the Earthrace, is a fast, futuristic looking trimaran that recently set the world record for global circumnavigation. The vessel renaming reflects the ship’s benefactor, Ady Gil, who helped acquire the vessel.
