The bodies of the 44-year-old man, an 18-month-old boy, a five-year-old girl and seven-year-old boy were discovered inside a car in the driveway of the remote property
I know I speak for all in my community when I say we are stunned and devastated by the senseless deaths of three very young children at Pericoe Valley.
On behalf of the community I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the children’s mother Karen, family and friends.
This is a tragic event beyond comprehension and one which strikes to the hearts of us all.
There is a police investigation underway and I will not comment on the specific details that are subject to that investigation. Other investigations that are likely to follow include a coronial inquiry and a further investigation and report by the NSW Ombudsman as part of his Annual Child Deaths Review.

The enormity of this tragedy has lead many to ask how this could have been prevented.
The concerns that have been raised by members of the extended family and the community over the course of the weekend will need to be addressed.
This week will be spent by the community reflecting on the short lives of these young children and supporting those who have to bear unimaginable grief.
