Council Accepts Seats Offer
July 25, 2007: Bega Valley Shire Council has accepted an offer of a 12 month free membership to the South East Australian Transport Strategy.
Mayor Tony Allen said while he had expressed a different view to the Council on the effectiveness of SEATS, Council had supported the lobby group’s offer of membership without fees for the 2007/08 year.
“The offer of free membership was a strong factor in Council’s support of the group and its possible pressure on governments in securing funding for the Bega bypass in the near future,” Cr Allen said.
SEATS aims to stimulate and facilitate investment in transport and infrastructure in south eastern New South Wales, eastern Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory region.
