Bega Valley Sewerage Project - Wallaga Lake
From the Mayor’s Desk with Tony Allen
August 14, 2007:
There have been positive comments from residents in the Wallaga Lake area concerning the Bega Valley Sewerage Project.
The Deputy Mayor Janette Neilson accompanied me on inspection of the works and we were pleased to hear the positive approach by residents to the overall program and the professionalism of the program staff.
The program is making good headway in the area with the majority of the “pots” installed and work now focussing on ancillary works.
Importantly, we have three contracting companies working in the area, with the bulk of their staff sourced locally. Presently there are 33 people working on the project at Wallaga Lake alone.
The Wallaga Lake villages comprise the residential areas of Beauty Point, Fairhaven and Wallaga Lake Heights, which consist of small residential settlements located around the southern and eastern foreshores of Wallaga Lake.
The works are running smoothly, with more than half the project completed. The street and property works are expected to be finished in September and it is hoped that residents will be connected towards the end of 2007.
