Facelift for Tathra Hall

The Tathra Hall is undergoing a major facelift thanks to the joint efforts of the Tathra Hall Committee and the Bega Valley Shire Council.

Council’s manager of civil assets and urban projects, Mark Canaider, said the committee was a true champion for Tathra and its efforts in raising funds for the project were admirable.

The committee raised $13,500 towards re-roofing the hall and Council has provided $30,000 for a new facade to replace the old brick one which had become a safety hazard, work that was identified recently as being urgent.

There will also be some painting and minor repairs to internal shelving to improve the area used by a children’s play group.

The work is being done by local contractor Ray Grant.

“This is an excellent example of a community group working with Council to maintain and improve community assets,” Mr Canaider said.
