Transition Towns Bega

Transition Towns Bega meets 1st and 3rd Wednesday at Niagara Cafe, Bega. 6pm. Soup, coffee and cake available.

http://transition.org.au - See new video about cute new hydrogen car engine with fueling unit.

The Bega Transition Towns group are inviting you to come to Niagara Cafe in Bega to discuss a practical and very public example of a food garden (or the group could decide to do something else)in Bega to create more awareness about the effective transition to a sustainable lifestyle.

Transition Triangle are reviving orchards in Tilba. Transition Eden are expanding their garden and starting a new Farmers Market, in Cann River they are hot on the trail recreating their industry. In Tathra and Pambula community gardens are starting.

Transition Towns has a 12 step process to develop an Energy Descent Action Plan within a community - which acts a guide. In our rural communities we are already advanced in many ways - so we can really do what suits our situation.

This meeting in Bega, we’ll start with a discussion about practical things - because that’s the feedback we’ve been getting - we could do like a backyard blitz (permablitz) to bring attention to forming a food security group. We’ve heard that the most so far.

We could plan it and get it done in a day and create a fair bit of attention and cost almost nothing.

After that discussion, we’ll show the terrific film ‘The Power of Community’ about how Cuba collapsed and then grew out of the oil embargo of the 1990s at the time of the collapse of Russia with the help of Australian permaculture educators. Top story.

Do come along. It’s time for some fun in Bega! Spring has sprung.
