These plans have been submitted to the Department for Environment and Climate Change which asked for them so that it could review all information relating to the site before considering the conditions it might apply to a landfill licence.

The whole issue of waste management was raised during the election campaign and several of the new Councillors have indicated a desire to know a great deal more about the subject. To that end, waste management for the shire will be the subject of a special workshop for Councillors within the next few weeks.

The plans for the proposed Wanatta Lane facility are on public display from Wednesday, October 15, to Thursday, November 13, and anyone wishing to review them or make comment can view them at Council offices in Bermagui, Bega, Merimbula and Eden.
